Below is a list of several of the apps and software programs I utilize to gather data on my students. As new technology comes out and existing technology improves, I constantly look for the the most efficient and effective ways to integrate technology and enhance student learning.
Cognitive Assessments
Throughout the year, student knowledge is assessed using both formative and summative assessments. No need for pencils & paper - now we use Google form assessments on iPads and Plicker cards to hold up and scan! Student understanding of rules, concepts, strategies, etc... can literally be assessed & graded in a matter of minutes! |
Skill Assessments
Many of the observable performance skills students demonstrate everyday are gathered using various video analysis tools. These provide great feedback to students on "what they look like" when performing a skill. It's also a great way for me to go back and break down the quality their movements against a rubric to determine their level of mastery on a particular skill. |
Active Participation
In the past, grading student "effort & participation" in P.E. was very subjective. Now, I can eliminate the guesswork and determine exactly how active students are in class by utilizing "wearable tech" such as 3D pedometers. These devices show how much students are moving and at what intensity. |
St. #1 - I can move correctly and have the skills to play in a variety of activities.
St. #2 - I know/show movement strategies in game play/activities
St. #3 - I exercise regularly and know how to stay fit
St. #4 - I play fair (respectfully, responsibly, safely)
St. #5 - I value physical activity, fitness, and health
